Websites R 4 Geeks!
Advantages of having a website for your business or ministry

Now-a-days websites are such an integral part of life. Its like everyone owns a toothbrush, right? Its just part of our everyday activities to brush our teeth. Websites are a part of our everyday lives as well; we shop online, read, research or blog and many, many other things. You may find yourself asking the question; What did we do before the Internet? How did we function?

Believe it or not there is a remnant in our modern-day society that still thinks 'websites are for geeks!' This group is not necessarily made up of seniors but includes a wide range of age groups. The funny thing is over the past year or so I have spoken with many people mostly Christians and it seems the majority of this thinking comes from church folk!

Church folk in ministry or business truly benefit just as much as the secular public when it comes to owning a website. Let's take an eagle-eye view of some basic advantages in gearing-up to develop a website or revamping an existing site.

ADVANTAGES:

  1. Getting your business or ministry name into the public eye. 'Hello world here I am...' We must enter into the mind-set that people need what I have. Whether it is in product, information or spiritual enlightenment. You have purpose and God has created you for 'such a time as this.' It's your time and it's your season.

  2. Your website will be available to the entire planet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just think, a website can bring in revenue while you sleep! A website is an extension of a ministry or business but not necessarily the sole source of income within a household. There are the exceptions and we will touch on that in advantage #3.

  3. Advertising at bargain prices - less than $1.00 a day. The #1 way to advertise, as you well know is, word of mouth. This should be done with your website on a consistent basis. Always invite others to log onto your site for more information. The main objective here is that you have what others need, right?

If you have an established website and would like to see an increase in visitor hits or sales you may want to consider a marketing campaign. This is the area that can become quite costly. Here is a word of caution; choose your marketing company wisely. Take time to study out some of the agencies and do not be in a hurry to hire just any company to do this. (If you would like to speak with someone that I recommend, Ken Blair of
Blair and Associates Marketing Services, will be glad to speak with you and help with a marketing plan that is just right for you.)

  4. Take your ministry or company to the next level - International. This coincides with advantage #2. Your website can bring in revenue while you sleep. We must realize that there is the other half of the world that is just waking up while we are calling it a day.

Success is accomplishing what you were created to do."
    --T.D. Jakes

Coming up with information, products and spiritual enrichment that reach other cultures is to our advantage. We have one gift of life to live so lets make the most of it. When we begin to enlarge our territory (market) this does increase shipping and mailing costs so keep that in mind and be sure to mention that on the site. Make going international an advantage and not a hindrance. Just think of the many doors opening to missions and all from having a website on the Net.

  5. Interaction with others. This is a huge part of entering the Internet zone. People want to communicate with you, ask questions and of course give their input. Here are several ways to open the communication with an interactive website. Add a forum, blog, guest-book, guest-map, chat-room, survey etc. These are a great way to add a little pizzazz to your website and keep them coming back for more!

Technology is here to stay, let it work to your advantage. If you think about it, only a few years ago, websites were quite expensive to maintain and the Internet was running at a much slower pace. Take just a few minutes and muse upon these 5 basic advantages to having a website, I guarantee your thinking will change and you will realize that geeks are not the only ones on the Net these days.

Don't limit your resources or what God can do through you. Continue to move with that momentum and you will see a positive outcome. It's your time and it's your season.♦
