E-Tip #2

September 12, 2003 Article 9 Volume 12
Get the Word Out!
Your website is updated.

Website promotion and marketing your website must be tops on the priority list. Online and offline promotion is crucial to the future business success of your website. Developing and maintaining an E-List of current and future clients is our focus in this E-tip.

Let all current and future clients know, Your website is updated! Your E-list should have a regular time slot that it is sent out either monthly, BI-monthly, quarterly etc. In your promotional strategy marketing a newsworthy item[s] should be planned ahead to keep it sent out regularly.

Your E-List information encourages your clients to check out your website and gives them the opportunity to pass along your web address [domain name] or forward your E-List to friends co-workers, peers, and family. People are always looking for more information and the latest trends. What does your company have to offer? Print it in your email. The content is up to you, be informative, exciting and creative in your approach.

Remember: your client is doing you a favor by taking the time to read the email so, make a good impression.

What is the benefit? A continual flow of traffic to your site that is looking, exploring and passing the word out to others.

A few other options can be added to the email and can be a main staple for future mailings. Providing a banner or a medium size graphic is an easy way for others to link exchange with you. It works like this, if your website can benefit them they will put a text link, your banner or the medium size graphic on their site. In exchange they will ask you to link back by putting a banner, text link or graphic on your website.

One other tip is to add a courtesy statement, which goes something like this: If you do not wish to receive future emails, please reply with the word REMOVE in the subject line. This gives them an option and most often they will appreciate this gesture and continue to receive your email notices.

These two tips can be an attention grabber. Recognition for integrity and a quality site will be a reward for a job well done, not to mention more visitors. Onlookers are searching for consistency, quality, and long term staying power on the net. Stay true to the course, be diligent in your promotion and you will reap the benefits. Be creative in your approach and flexible to the ever-changing market.
