Flamingo Style
[Seeing life in the Pink]
You have heard the cliché " Looking at the world through rose-colored glasses?" The first record of this phrase dates back to about 1861, and is an optimistic view of life. A jeweler friend once joked and said, “Lora the eternal optimist!” Seeing
things in the Pink is about a positive, Godly perspective and having a Godly vision which transcends our circumstances. This vision gives a glimpse into our eternal God given destiny and purpose. Looking at life in the Pink means to perceive the life that “Jesus gives” and experience it working through us and in other people. Taking a positive heart attitude towards life.
Looking at a Flamingo, this beautiful pink bird is absolutely stunning in its array of colors. The pink coloring comes from the diet they consume on a regular basis which, varies depending on what region their colonies thrive in. Baby flamingos are gray until they reach a certain age. When feeding on foods rich in alpha beta-carotene and brine shrimp they turn the pink color as they mature. Caribbean flamingos have the brightest color and can be seen in a color range of pink to vivid crimson. Scientists who have studied these birds for several years have come to the conclusion that they belong in a group of their own. They even have been known to dance on occasion which, can be quite a comical experience for the observer. For more flamingos FAQ’s and information go to the flamingo stuff section.
As we look a little deeper into how God beholds and sees things, we will look at the book of Daniel and Daniel’s life. One thing noticed first off is that Daniel lives a consecrated life. In Daniel 1:8 we read that Daniel purposed in his heart.
In verses 12-14, Daniel asked the steward, who was Chief of the eunuchs, to let him and his comrades eat a diet of vegetables and water for 10 days as a test. This is not the daily provision King Nebuchadnezzar had portioned for them or the other young men exiled into the king’s training school. Reading a bit further we discover that the LORD was with Daniel and his friends, verses 15-17 and they appeared fatter in their flesh, healthier after the 10 days. God gave the four of them his divine health from their diet as well as his favor, increased knowledge, wisdom and skill in all literature. Daniel was given the understanding of all visions and dreams.
Life is a gift, a God given gift. What do we do with our gift? It's a choice we have to make. Daniel purposed in his heart not to compromise his walk with God. He chose to see life with rose colored glasses and took the positive approach to the gift of life. Have you ever tried rose-colored glasses on? Colors become more vivid and the world is a much brighter place. It’s like looking through our earthly eyes and then seeing with our spiritual eyes. A new perspective comes and we enjoy delighting in life. Don’t let circumstances waiver your approach to this gift of life. Begin to see things how God sees, trust in him with every step.
Chapter 1:6-7 Daniel's friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were renamed by the chief of the eunuchs, to Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. You have heard the story of the fiery furnace? Chapter 3: 8-18, in verse 17 Daniel’s friends are unmovable in their faith as they speak of their God whom they serve. They declare that God is able to deliver them from the fiery furnace and the king’s hand, the king was enraged and had the fire stoked 7 times hotter than before at this declaration! What happens next? Jesus himself appears with them in the furnace vs. 24-26. Our God is there no matter what our trials and tests are. He will deliver us as we consecrate ourselves to worship him and him alone. King Nebuchadnezzar blessed these men for trusting in their God to deliver them. They walked out of the fiery furnace untouched by the power of the fire and all who had seen were amazed! God’s favor was upon their lives and the king gave Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego a promotion.
Looking at these men and their example to us, we gain a new perspective. We realize that we too can consecrate ourselves and have a heavenly vision in the here and now. Can we now look through our eyes and view how God sees? Yes we can! Flamingo style, in the Pink? Absolutely. God has given us his word to gain new insight into understanding and growing in his character, purpose and destiny for our lives. He gives us revelation as we meditate on his word.
What is life lived in the Pink? A committed, courageous, without compromise, extraordinary walk in Christ. This relationship gives us access to living in Eternity. Image it, ETERNITY. How can we look at life the same way again when we get a revelation of eternity? The cares of this world dim in comparison to the heavenly delights we will enjoy in Heaven. Let me encourage you to continue to eat of God’s Word and grow in the revelation it brings to your life. Approach the gift of life with a new perspective, seeing with your spiritual eyes into Eternity. The diet/food that we feed on produces our fruits of the Spirit and helps us to bloom where we are planted. You are a child of the King of Kings! Walk in it! Envision it!
