A website, a website not?
[the question is...Who needs a website anyway?]

At this junction in the technological age, the majority of our population has made the giant step into Cyber-space. Maybe you are a computer techie, web-developer, or an occasional personal computer user? Whichever your circumstance, you have visited a few websites on the Internet by now. What IS this mouse-clicking quest all about? I N F O R M A T I O N. monitors & mice

So that brings us to the subject of this article, Who needs a website anyway? Here are several reasons to have and maintain a website.

  1. A website can reduce costs of printing, postage, phone calls and labor.

  2. With an online store, shopping is 24 hours and people can shop at their leisure.

  3. If there is a request for information, these questions can easily be answered via email. [Keep in mind that your competitor is a mouse click away, so respond quickly and thoroughly.]

  4. Your web presence can establish you. As you state your vision, your mission, and future goals you will build a web presence that reflects back to you in the Internet community.

  5. If you are an established business a website is a tool to draw a market that is not reachable locally or during your hours of operation. Maybe even someone planning a vacation will appreciate the convenience of finding you at his or her place of destination on the web.

As a web designer, promoting others is my focus. I have asked a couple of my clients to respond to this question: Why do you need a website? here are their responses:

phone, cell, laptop
Reading the above statements we find good reasons to have a website and there are so many more that were not mentioned. Bringing us to the reality that there is a great demand from the public for businesses, organizations, ministries etc. to have a website. A website these days is as essential as a telephone or a fax machine is to an office. Think of the Internet as a machine that never sleeps. That machine now works for you the website owner and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Developing a web presence is very important especially in the 21st century. Staying in the flow and flexing with the ups and downs of the marketplace is excellent strategy. How does this happen? By developing an informative, updated, and well planned website. As we meet the publics' demand for an informative website, we still need to ask ourselves these questions frequently. Is my website answering the publics’ questions? Is it meeting their needs and wants? As we search for the answers and develop a premiere website we will realize the possibilities are endless. Being proactive in creating variety, vitality and vision will establish and environment of integrity and ultimately bring a steady flow of visitors/traffic to your site.

In conclusion we can see how essential a website is for anyone with a message or product that the world needs to see and hear. The public is looking for truthfulness, trustworthiness and tenacity. Keeping these 3 T’s in mind will bring great rewards over time. What are you waiting for? JUST DO IT!!
